Saint Martha in ItalySaint Martha in Italy - Friday, June 15, 2018
As I mentioned in my June 9/10 bulletin column, we’ve got a parish trip lined up for fifteen months from now. Flying on Monday, September 9, 2019 and returning Thursday, September 19, 2019, we will be offering an adventure that is centered in Rome, with an overnight in Florence, and day trips to Assisi and Pompeii. You will find details by clicking the small picture to the right. (IvyLynn Olson in the parish office will have some paper copies of this as well.)
The arrangements have been made by Lynn Fuller, the retired principal of Saint Gerard School. Lynn is now in the travel business and delights in arranging and escorting this sort of trip. If the materials available leave you with additional questions, you can contact her at lynn@fullertravelservice.com or at (517) 819-8442.
We will have Daily Mass, sometimes at the great churches of Rome, and (weather and papal travels permitting) attend the general audience with Pope Francis! I have never been part of a group trip like this, but I have been to Rome, Florence, and Pompeii (though not as a priest) and am excited about a return. And this will be my first time in Assisi, home of the great saint!
If your schedule, finances, health, and circumstances allow it, your presence would be wonderful. We need at least twenty-some travelers for this to work, and can accommodate up to forty-some (the quoted price for the trip also comes down a bit if we have more people). A $200 deposit will save a place (the deposit and paperwork are given to Lynn Fuller - not to the parish office).
Back in my less intelligent years, I visited Rome as a tourist. Years later, with my wife and children (and my God), I visited as a pilgrim. I went most of the same places, and saw most of the same things. And had a completely different experience. As mentioned, I certainly am looking forward to September 2019, and the chance to travel with many of you. read more ...
