Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis were canonized Saints by Pope Leo XIV on Sunday, September 7. These two young men lived very short lives but did much to bring people closer to Christ both before and after their deaths.
St. Pier Giorgio Frassati was born in Italy in 1901 to a prominent family. He was a handsome, fun-loving, athletic, courageous, and devout Catholic who has become the model for lay people worldwide who lived a life of joy and charity. He died from polio in 1925 at the age of 24.
A truly modern Saint, St. Carlo Acutis was born in 1991. His devotion to his faith led him to create a website of Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions which inspired many people to believe in Christ. He died from leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15.
After Masses this Sunday, September 7, we will have an opportunity to venerate a first-class relic of St. Carlo Acutis. The relic will remain in residence at St. Martha, so if you cannot make it on Sunday, you’ll be able to venerate it at any time.
