As many are aware, a hardy band of Saint Martha parishioners (along with some family and friends) have traveled together on three pilgrimages. We went to the Holy Land in 2019, to Rome and Assisi in 2022, and to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 2023. We intend to walk the Camino de Santiago in 2025.
This coming summer (July 5 to 16, 2024) my brother Mark, with his wife Elizabeth, and I will be undertaking a pilgrimage to France. It will include Lourdes, Toulouse (burial place of Saint Thomas Aquinas), Paray Le Monial (Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque / Sacred Heart of Jesus), Chartres, Lisieux (Saint Thérèse), Normandy Beaches, and Mont Saint Michel. It ends in Paris, with Notre Dame, the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal (Saint Catherine Laboure), and the customary secular sights, such as the Eiffel Tower, the L’Arch de Triomphe, and the Champ-Elysees.
Like the recent trip to Mexico City, it will be with an outfit called 206 Tours (the underlying platform for our Dynamic Catholic pilgrimages of 2019, 2022, and 2025).
The France trip is a little longer than I prefer – usually my trips / vacations / pilgrimages run about a week or so. But it’s not much longer than that. And perhaps some might be interested in joining us. If so, please take a look at 206tours.com/tour5/
An alternative, which adds several days (June 30 to July 5) to the front end of the France pilgrimage, would include time at Fatima, Avila, Loyola, and other spots in Portugal and Spain. 206tours.com/tour55/ I will be on that part, though Mark and Elizabeth will pick it up on July 5.
Like the other pilgrimages, this isn’t any sort of “official” Saint Martha Parish endeavor. But I sure would enjoy the company of any of you who would like to sign up with 206 Tours and come along with us!
