Today we celebrate the first Sunday of the Advent season - the great season of waiting ushering in a new liturgical year. Advent is meant to be a penitential season, much like Lent, as we move toward the great solemnity of the Nativity of our Lord. There is, however, a sweetness to the Advent season even if it is meant to be a bit penitential.
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. So, while I understand the idea behind such a moniker as No Kings - especially given the history of this great country - I think we must ask ourselves do we not have a king?
Fr. Ryan shares gratitude for the tremendous success of this year’s Evening of Faith and Future fundraiser and reflects on God’s justice and our call to persevere in faith as we approach the end of the liturgical year.
Fr. Ryan invites us to support our parish’s Fall Fundraiser, rejoice in the witness of the saints, prayerfully remember and intercede for the faithful departed—especially through November’s indulgence opportunities—and be assured of his prayers for us.
