At Saint Martha School, the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a secure learning environment through careful planning, regular training, and strong partnerships with local authorities.
Saint Martha follows an annual safety drill schedule to ensure students and staff are prepared to respond quickly and appropriately in the event of an emergency. Each school year includes a minimum of:
5 fire drills
3 lockdown drills
2 tornado drills
Through regular practice, students become familiar with safety procedures in a calm, age-appropriate manner, helping to build confidence and readiness.
The administration of Saint Martha School works in close collaboration with the Meridian Township Police Department to ensure our emergency protocols and procedures reflect current best practices. Teachers and staff receive ongoing guidance and support, and students and staff participate in annual training related to lockdown procedures, reinforcing clear expectations and consistent responses.
In addition to drills and training, Saint Martha maintains a closed campus during school hours. All visitors are required to ring in for assistance and check in through the main entrance, ensuring we are always aware of who is in our building.
Recent safety upgrades further strengthen our campus security, including:
Installation of the Lockout SmartBoot on classroom doors (Click on Lockout SmartBoot for more information).
Indoor and outdoor security cameras throughout the campus
Locked church doors during school Masses to maintain a secure environment for students
At Saint Martha School, we take a proactive and thoughtful approach to safety creating a secure, structured environment where students can focus on learning, growing in faith, and thriving each day.
