As we enter the season of Thanksgiving and Christmas, we are reminded of the many blessings we’ve received and the opportunity to share with those in need. This year, we invite you to give generously to support our St. Martha’s outreach programs, helping provide meals, gifts, and care for families in our community. Your donations - whether monetary or in-kind - make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, spreading hope and love during this special time of year. Below are the various ways you can contribute and be part of this season of giving.
We have begun collecting food staples for this year’s Thanksgiving Food Drive. Suggestion donations include non-perisionables:
soup
cereal
pasta and sauce
canned meat & fish
gravy
instant potatoes
canned fruits and vegetables
Please consider low sodium, low sugar, and low fat items, smaller packages for small households, and check expiration dates. Food boxes will be in the upstairs glass hallway until Friday, November 22; cash donations can be placed in the collection and will be used to purchase perishable items.
We are sorting the food donations on Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00 pm in the church glass hallway. Many hands make light work. Students are welcome to join for NHS or service hours. Delivery drivers are also needed.
Please email stmarthaccw@gmail.com if you can help in any way. Thank you!
The Knights of Columbus, St. Martha Council 10006 will once again be participating in the Holy Cross Services Sweatshirt Program which provides new sweatshirts to people in need as gifts at Christmas. Our Council has supported this very successful program for many years, and, with your help, we hope to continue this fine tradition this year.
The new sweatshirts you purchase will be delivered to our district deputy and then on to Holy Cross Services. The residents truly appreciate the great looking sweatshirts or hoodies with pro sports team or college logos (please no plain sweatshirts). Youth sizes XS, S, M, L and adult sizes S, M, L, XL are requested. Quality is more important than quantity. Remember that your gift may be the only one they receive this Christmas.
Place the sweatshirts in a decorated gift box and write the size on the outside. If it is gender specific, please mark it accordingly in large, easy to read lettering. The sweatshirts can be dropped off at the St. Martha Parish office by noon on Wednesday, December 4. Thank you for your participation!
Please contact the parish office with any questions.
St. Luke Coat Bank provides coats to individuals throughout the Greater Lansing area. New and gently used coats can be donated in the labelled black trash cans in the lobby area. Requested items are:
Adult winter coats of all sizes (especially XXL and larger)
Children’s winter coats
Children’s snow pants
The two distribution dates for the season on Wednesday, November 20, and Saturday, December 7.
You can also sign up to assist with distribution by clicking here.
Giving Tree tags are now available on the trees near both entrances to the church. All information regarding the gift will be on the tag. Each year the St. Martha Council of Catholic Women coordinates this parish-wide project to provide Christmas gifts to people who are in need in our community. Many of these people would go without if it weren’t for your generosity.
Other gifts provide much-needed household items for our local Catholic charities. Gifts support the Ingham County Medical Care Facility on Dobie Road, St. Vincent Catholic Charities, St. Martha St. Vincent de Paul families, Shared Pregnancy, Cristo Rey Community Center, Haven House, and Alternative Services. All tags must be returned with gifts no later than December 8.
If you have questions, please contact the parish office.
